Hamden Regional Youth Basketball League “Remember, it’s for the kids”
HRYBL will present HOOPS FOR HAITI, where kids can help kids, on Saturday, March 13th at West Woods, Spring Glen and Alice Peck Schools. As you are aware, the earthquake in Haiti caused major devastation and thousands of children have been left orphaned. We will be accepting donations at the front doors of the schools as well as selling basketball trinkets and cupcakes as supplies last throughout the day. Players can demonstrate their support by purchasing a $2 wristband to be worn throughout the game. All of the proceeds will be immediately forwarded to an orphanage in Haiti for disabled children who are currently homeless due to the damage to their home caused by the earthquake. These monies will be used to help these needy children and their orphanage. The HRYBL will send the money to the Haitian-American United for Progress, Inc. with the funds earmarked for the orphanage in Haiti. We’d love your help! Any parents/players who would like to lend assistance at the games, please email Sue Kuselias at sue@careerteam.com prior to next Saturday.
In advance, thanks so much for your help and support. Enjoy the games and please stop by the booth for a good cause!
Regards,
Bill Schule President-HRYBL

IMPORTANT REMINDER
Dear HRYBL Parents,
Just a reminder that on Saturday, March 13th, HRYBL will present Hoops for Haiti, where kids can help kids, at all HRYBL gyms. On this day, we as a league will have the opportunity to provide Haitian Earthquake Relief by directly impacting the lives of 19 children who were cared for at The House of Special Needs Kids Orphanage in Port au Prince, Haiti. Prior to the earthquake, these children lived in heartwrenching poverty. Last month’s earthquake caused significant damage to their orphanage and they are currently homeless, living and sleeping under makeshift tents. Together the HRYBL families can make an immediate and direct impact on their lives. Families who are interested in assisting these children can purchase a wristband at the door for the players to wear during the game and demonstrate their support. Also, all the HRYBL fans out there (parents, grandparents, family and friends!) can purchase pom poms and other spirit gear to cheer on their favorite players and teams. A wide variety of basketball trinkets will be available for purchase while supplies last. Lastly, there will be a Special HRYBL Family Donation Box at each school. If each family were to place $10 in the box, we could immediately assist these children in building a new shelter. Checks can be made out to HRYBL with Haiti written in the memo. All proceeds of this event will be forwarded to the Haitian-American Union for Progress, Inc. who will direct 100% of the funds raised to the orphanage.
Thank you in advance for the tremendous response for volunteers and to all those who will support any or all of Saturday’s activities! Any questions, please email Sue Kuselias, HRYBL parent, at sue@careerteam.com or contact her at 203-535-9135. |
